Somewhere west of a line draw with IH-35, north of Waco and south of Fort Worth, but before you get out towards San Angelo, you find yourself in a dry, arid lansdcape that isn't quite as flat, and featureless as West Texas, but it isn't exactly the Hill Country that tourists love so much down south near Fredericksburg. In this piece we're speaking about places like Stephenville, Comanche, and Brownwood. Eastland, maybe. Where the taller trees of the eastern half of Texas slowly give way to low growing oaks and cedars. It's another landscape that is often overlooked for its luminous earth-tones. An amazing part of the state.
